A creative professional with over 2 decades of experience in design, toy and promotional/product development, Joe successfully takes his client’s projects from concept to production.
What is your freelance service?
I supply creative graphic design, packaging and branding solutions for companies that will benefit from my experience in the graphic design, retail toy and promotional/product development fields.
Where are you based?
Rancho Cucamonga, CA.
Briefly share how you became a freelancer.
I began freelancing out of necessity to pay bills years ago, and have just started to freelance full-time again due to the pandemic.
What has been your biggest win as a freelancer?
I designed a mailer for a tech company some years back that helped make their main trade show one of the most attended they ever had.
What are some of the hurdles you’ve overcome as a freelancer? Do you think these hurdles are indicative of the freelancer profession overall?
The main hurdle for me personally, is setting normal job hours. I would rather burn the midnight oil, and crank things out by early morning, rather than get up for the normal 9 to 5. And I think that most freelancers feel the same way.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out as a freelancer?
Make sure you have some contacts already in the coffers for you to talk to. Without a professional network to call upon, you’re going to have to cold call a lot of people before you get that first yes.
Let’s say I’m a client that’s looking to hire a freelancer that does what you do. Why should I hire you?
I am a creative professional with over 20 years of experience in the design, toy and promotional/product development fields. Have led in-house and outside design teams from conceptual designs all the way through to final production. Always looking for a fresh way to present things, in an ever-changing landscape.
